Meet John Hall, Iowa Director

I have been a member of Mid America EDC for the last 6 years.

I have been on the board since December 2019

What’s one of the best things about the Mid America EDC and what’s something everyone should know about the Mid America EDC?

As a young economic developer I view Mid America EDC as a great opportunity to network with other folks in the industry from across the entire region. The knowledge and expertise in the room is staggering, but what I have found is that even folks who have been in the business for a long time are continuing to find new avenues of thought as our industry continues to adapt and change. Having young folks around the table is as crucial as having experience given the rapidly shifting demographics of the workforce and the ever changing expectations for what our deliverables for a community are.

What motivates you?

Since I got into this business about 8 years ago, I have always been hungry for the opportunity to positively contribute to my community. That’s why I got into this business in the first place was the motivation of making people’s lives better.

What’s your favorite place in Mid America or one place you would like to visit in Mid America?

I absolutely love right where I’m at. That’s the beautiful part about Mid America is that we all love to be where we are, or we wouldn’t be there. I do love to travel and see other communities and areas of our region. That’s one of the best parts about Mid America EDC is that we get the opportunity to experience the best of Mid America!

What’s your favorite way to spend free time?

My wife and I have a 9 month old daughter and it gives me no greater joy than seeing her explore the world for the first time. Any time that we can go experience something new with her is my absolutely favorite thing to do.
