Mid-America EDC members are dedicated economic development professionals who share best practices to make you more valuable to your organization.

The Mid-America Economic Development Council (EDC) is a professional association representing thirteen states that collectively contributes significantly to the national economy. The region includes Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Wyoming. Collectively, the association's region represents 20 percent of the nation’s population, 20 percent of the nation's total business establishments and 21.7 percent of the nation’s total workforce.

As a leader for continuing education, connections, and sharing best practices we work to grow economic development professionals, their communities, and related verticals across the states we serve.  

We Provide:

  • Resources to up-skill and excel the profession of economic development

Recognition of quality economic development programs and marketing, including an annual awards program to reward excellence

  • Promotion of the region to consultants and industries to accelerate strategic business development
  • In-person and virtual networking and mentoring opportunities to promote collaboration and partnership

History & Milestones:

The Mid-America Economic Development Foundation, Inc. was established in 2001. The foundation is a not-for-profit organization whose founding purpose was to strengthen the abilities of economic developers in the ten-state region (IN, IL, IA, OH, NE, WI, MI, MN, ND, SD) and the economic vitality of the region in general.
