2022 Bob Ady Scholarship Recipients

 

The Mid-America Economic Development Council recently selected the 2022 recipients for the annual Bob Ady Scholarship Program.  The scholarship program is named in memory of Bob Ady, a champion for economic development in the U.S. and especially the Mid-America region. 

This scholarship program is available for Mid-America Economic Development Council members and non-members.  Applicants were evaluated based on their interest in economic development overall, as well as their interest in the Mid-America Economic Development Council organization.  This year’s scholarship program is designed to assist with professional mentoring throughout the year and attendance to both of Mid-America EDC’s 2022 Conferences – the Virtual Best Practices Conference to be held July 13-15 in Springfield, Ohio, and the Mid-America Competitiveness Conference to be held November 30-December 2 in Chicago, Illinois. 

Mid-America EDC board members and Co-chairs of the 2022 Bob Ady Scholarship committee, Tim Holverson and Brittany Ashby, commented, “Mid-America EDC is thrilled to continue this very beneficial offering to the economic development profession.  This scholarship program allows for the organization to support economic development professionals from across the Midwest as they strive to improve their knowledge and skills via mentoring and participation at both conferences, while simultaneously networking with peers from across our region.”

This scholarship program is available for Mid-America Economic Development Council members and non-members.  Applicants were evaluated based on their interest in economic development overall, as well as their interest in the Mid-America Economic Development Council organization.  This year’s scholarship program is designed to assist with professional mentoring throughout the year and attendance to both of Mid-America EDC’s 2021 Conferences – the Virtual Best Practices Conference held May 12-13, and the Mid-America Competitiveness Conference & Site Selector Forum held December 1-3 in Chicago, Illinois.

“Each Bob Ady Scholarship award winner brings new thinking and a fresh perspective to the field of economic development.  These are exactly the qualities that keep the field relevant and pertinent even in times of sweeping economic, political, technical, and social change,” said Janet Ady, Bob’s daughter and President and CEO of Ady Advantage.  “Over 50 promising economic development professionals have now been awarded scholarships to attend Mid-America Economic Development Association conferences, bringing what they learn back to their home states and communities to help advance economic development across the country.”

2021 Bob Ady Scholarship Program

Presented in partnership by Mid-America EDC and Ady Advantage
 

 

The Mid-America Economic Development Council is pleased to announce that we are now accepting scholarship applications for the 2021 Bob Ady Scholarship program.

The scholarship program is named in memory of Bob Ady, a champion for economic development in the U.S. and especially the Midwest. The purpose of this scholarship program is to assist new economic development professionals in furthering their professional development through conference participation and mentoring. This program is available for Mid-America EDC members and non-members, and applicants new to economic development will be given preference. Applicants will be evaluated based on their interest in economic development overall, as well as their interest in the Mid-America EDC organization.

The Mid-America EDC is a multi-state association dedicated to being the leading resource for education, making connections, and sharing best practices for economic development professionals. 

The Mid-America EDC provides economic development professionals with the following:

  • Resources aimed at helping the economic development professional to excel
  • Recognition of quality economic development programs and marketing
  • Awards program to reward excellence
  • Promotion of the 13-state region to site selectors and industries to help raise the level of awareness
  • Networking opportunities among regional members to promote idea exchange and partnering

This year, five Bob Ady scholarship recipients were selected and have been notified. Scholarship recipients receive:

  • Registration to both conferences – the 2021 Virtual Best Practices Conference May 12-13 and the 2021 Competitiveness Conference & Site Selector Forum December 1-3 in Chicago
  • Up to $2000 in travel reimbursement for the Competitiveness Conference
  • Monthly mentoring from leaders in the Mid-America EDC region (Please note that mentoring topics will be suggested as listed in the form below, and the scholarship recipient may customize their mentoring to work at the appropriate pace.)
